Moonshot Legends: Meet Cal Ripken, Jr.!

There are few players in our time that will ever come close to being as legendary as the Iron Man himself, Cal Ripken, Jr.

The former Orioles great is one of MLB’s most decorated SS/3B ever. Let’s revisit some of his accomplishments, shall we?

  • Rookie of the Year (1982)
  • 19-time All Star (1983-2001 – literally EVERY YEAR after his rookie season.)
  • 2-time AL MVP (1983, 1991)
  • 8 Silver Slugger Awards (1983-86, 1989, 1991, 1993-94)
  • 2 Gold Glove Awards (1991-92)
  • 3,184 career hits
  • 431 career home runs
  • First ballot Hall of Famer (2007, earning 537 of 545 votes. WHO DIDN’T VOTE FOR HIM?! They for realsies need to lose their voting privileges.)
  • And probably most famously, holds the record for most consecutive games played ever at 2,632 games. (Surpassing the 56-year record held by Lou Gehrig by 501 games.)

Why am I talking about this, nearly 18 years after the man’s final at bat? Because, my friends.. you can meet the legend himself! ATTENTION! Baseball fans in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area: CAL RIPKEN JR. WILL BE SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS AND TAKING PICTURES WITH FANS. This is not a drill.

Want to meet him? He’ll be at Fan HQ at Ridgedale this Saturday, September 14th from 12:30 – 1:15 pm. There’s still time to get tickets, and to get any autographed memorabilia pre-signed by the Iron Man himself. Each autograph ticket will include you being able to get your photo taken with one of the greatest ball players of all time. You can find details at http://www.fanhqstore.com.

I’ll likely be there, lurking behind a planter trying to get a glimpse of the legendary Mr. Ripken. Who knows, I may be live streaming the whole thing. More details will hopefully follow regarding any Moonshots & Mustard – Cal Ripken, Jr. related posts/videos. Hope to see you there!
