Aroldis Chapman Literally Can’t Hold His Liquor
Aroldis Chapman injured his pitching hand while celebrating the ALDS sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Monday night. The Yankees’ unstoppable closer got hit with a champagne bottle and appeared during the post game interview with a massive bandage icing his hand.
Chapman came in with one out in the 8th to relieve Zack Britton, who had to come out of the game with an apparent ankle injury. He got the final two outs of the inning, shutting down the Twins’ only glimmer of a late-inning rally. He took the mound again in the 9th and ended the Twins’ season. The flame-thrower had this to say about the massive bandage on his hand:
“I was just celebrating, and everyone was jumping around. (My hand) got hit with a bottle. But it’s fine.”
