The Giants Make History With the First Full-Time Female Coach

With all of the dark clouds swirling around Major League Baseball this week, the Giants are making the news for a different reason. They’ve announced the hiring of Alyssa Nakken, the first full-time female coach in MLB history.

Nakken joined the Giants organization in 2014 after playing softball for Sacramento State. She’s worked in player development and with the amateur draft, and now will serve as an assistant coach directly under new manager Gabe Kapler.
