Luis Rojas Introduced as Mets Manager
The Mets have found their replacement for their scandal-plagued never-got-to-manage-a-game manager Carlos Beltran: Luis Rojas.
The casual baseball fan will likely have never heard of Rojas. He did play in the minors in the Orioles, Marlins, and Expos/Nationals organizations from 2000 – 2005, but never played above rookie ball. He’s been with the Mets organization in coaching and managerial roles for the last 13 seasons. Baseball is in his blood: He’s probably more famous for being the brother of six-time All Star Moises Alou and son of former player and manager Felipe Alou.
Rojas will have a fairly talented roster to work with going into the 2020 season. He’s got the 2019 Rookie of the Year Pete Alonso and pitchers like back-to-back Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Marcus Stroman.
